People & culture change - getting digital right for your non profit

Mar 30, 2023, 5:15 – 7:15 PM

People and culture change are critical to the success of most digital initiatives but are not easily achieved. This session will take a look at some of the challenges involved and provide a high level summary of some of the different approaches to culture change you can take. We will then create space in which you can share stories, ask questions and discuss issues related to your organisation.

About this event

Organisational culture refers to shared values, behaviours, procedures and policies that make up the work environment. Problems arise when the need for digital transformation clashes with the existing culture. In this meet-up we will explore how to align your organisation’s culture with your digital needs.

After some networking and refreshments (pizza!) we will start the evening by sharing and identifying common challenges to building a digital culture. We will then take a deeper dive into why culture is critical to the success of any digital project that involves people. We will look at reasons why resistance, tension and conflict are normal (and may even be helpful), and share some basic principles for working with complex problems such as organisational change.

In the second part of the event we will focus on practical tips for how to design processes that people need to go through change, which you will be able to take back to your organisation. We will look at different roles and relationships you need in order to create and embed cultural change.

There will be plenty of opportunities to discuss challenges, and explore and exchange ideas with other attendees throughout the evening. We will be joined by practitioners who have a lot of experience of digital change projects to share their points of views and to bring some collective questions and provocations into conversations.
