At TechSoup, we recognize that Black-led nonprofits, despite their historic contributions to community development and societal progress, often face significant challenges in securing funding and leveraging networking opportunities. Reports by Candid and the Center for Disaster Philanthropy reveal that these organizations frequently receive less grant funding compared to other groups. In the light of this, TechSoup's Black Affinity Group TechSOUL, in collaboration with the TechSoup legal team, is hosting a specially curated legal office hours to support Black-led nonprofits. TechSoup’s legal experts, Martha Lackritz-Peltier and Jasmine Martin, will walk through some of the key things to know for U.S. nonprofit organizations to remain compliant with applicable state and federal law. Topics include board and bylaw requirements and best practices, regular filing and registration requirements, traps for the unwary, and relevant resources to keep learning.

This is a unique opportunity to consult with legal professionals, glean valuable insights, and foster crucial connections. While this initiative is a focused effort to tackle a systemic issue, we extend a warm welcome to all individuals, irrespective of their backgrounds and identities, in the spirit of collective growth and shared knowledge.

Join us in our commitment to equalizing access to resources and technology, often taken for granted but elusive for those impacted by generations of injustice. Register today and be part of the change!
